Like everyone in the world, we’re spending a lot of time at home. México has a beer problem right now. Some teetotaler in Méxican government decided that beer is non-essential. So, our beer supply is running low. Fortunately liquor and wine can still be found in stores at the moment. But it’s a bit scary to know that our beer supply will run out in about eight days. Below are some of the drinks were mixing up down here in México.

The Paloma: Sea salt the rim of your glass before mixing, if you so desire. Mix 2 oz tequila, 1 oz fresh limes or lime juice, 1 oz of club soda, 3 oz of grapefruit juice, and 1 oz of symple syrup. Add ice. Adjust the lime juice, club soda and grapefruit juice to your liking.
Michelada: Sea salt the rim of your glass before mixing. Mix 1 oz of fresh limes to the beer of your choice. Add ice. This is a beach bar favorite for us, and for the next eight days we’ll be drinking them in our casa.
The Vod Enhancer: 2 oz of vodka, 6 oz of club soda, and a couple squeezes of flavored “cocktail mixer” drink enhancers. These drink enhancers are sold in most grocery stores to add flavor to water. We like “Rosé Wine” and “Berry Sangria.” Add ice. We haven’t found these drink enhancers for sale down here in México. You’ll have to pack them, like we do, if you want to make this south of the border.

The Ali: 2 oz of Absolut Mango with 6 oz of Tonic Water. Add ice. Ali fell into this concoction when we splurged one day and bought Absolut Mango on sale. It’s no longer on sale, but we’re still buying it.
