Saturday mornings are for the markets. There are two markets in Zihuatanejo that you should visit when in town. The Eco Tianguis Market is located behind the Museum in Centro every Saturday year-round. You can purchase locally grown fruits and vegetables or plants. There are thirty or so vendors in all. Some of the items available include salsas, mezcal, sourvenirs, clothes, coffee, art, jewelry, and other handmade items. Or you can purchase some food or drinks and sit at the tables set up in the shade. We had some great vegan cookies and brownies on our last visit. I’ve also purchased a few books before from the small library of used libros. There is a large souvenir stand located next to the market, so if you are in need of floatie or hat then you’re covered there, too! The market is open from 9am to 2pm.

The Las Iguanas Bazaar Market is located near the far end of the road to Playa La Ropa next door to Bonito Hotel. It’s open Saturdays and Sundays from 9am to 3pm from December through March. It provides a great atmosphere with live music and a full bar. If you get there too early for a mixed drink then you can order a smoothie. The sourdough bread is a big seller, but you need to arrive early as it sells out quickly. You can also shop for locally made clothes, hats, jewelry, and purses. You can buy art, soaps, oils, and lotions. There are even items for your cat. Other tables sell mezcal, eco-friendly bee wraps, and fresh blueberries, blackberries, and strawberries. We keep coming back for the amazing cookies and brownies, but those are only available on Saturdays.
